Fifteen speedboats has reportedly been destroyed after a cigarette stub sparked fire.

The incident happened on Sunday, December 19 after about 11pm in the evening near a filling station in Delta State. HGS Media Plus gathered.

The fire was said to have razed down a section of the Miller Waterside along the NPA Road in Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

It was gathered that a cigarette reportedly caused the fire after being thrown carelessly near the filling station.

The fire was said to have damaged properties before arrival of firefighters.

One Mr Stillbert, the Chairman of the Boat Owners Union at the Miller Jetty, said the incident was unfortunate, adding that the Delta State Government sympathizes with the victims.

The Chairman of Warri South Local Government Council, Dr Michael Tidi have launched an investigation to unravel the cause of the fire. He asked that residents be cautious this dry season to avoid fire incidents.
