SAPELE/Nigeria: The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, has expressed optimism that the year 2026 will bring improved economic conditions and greater development opportunities for the people of Delta Central and the entire Urhobo Nation.
In a New Year goodwill message to his constituents, Dafinone said available economic indicators suggest that 2026 would be significantly better than the outgoing year, urging the people to remain hopeful, resilient and united.
According to the senator, while the aspirations of the people may not yet have been fully realised, there has been measurable progress compared to the past, driven by collective determination and perseverance.
“We may not be exactly where we desire to be as a people, but we are certainly not where we used to be,” he said, adding that the steady progress recorded so far provides a strong basis for confidence in the new year.
Dafinone called on residents of Delta Central, particularly those in rural communities, to remain steadfast and focused, noting that the district’s strength lies in the resourcefulness, industry and resilience of its people.
He urged constituents to continue to pursue their businesses, trades and traditional occupations with dedication, stressing that these activities remain critical to local economic growth and shared prosperity.
The senator also highlighted the importance of the current political alignment between the Delta State Government and the Federal Government, describing it as a unique opportunity to accelerate development across the state and the senatorial district.
According to him, if properly harnessed, the synergy between both levels of government would translate into tangible benefits for Delta Central and improved delivery of dividends of democracy.
Dafinone further appealed to the Urhobo Nation to remain forward-looking, united and positive as the new year unfolds, emphasising that unity remains a key driver of sustainable development.
He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the Delta State Governor and the Federal Government to ensure that the interests of Delta Central are fully protected and that development reaches all parts of the district.
Expressing confidence in the months ahead, the senator said 2026 would be a year of progress, inclusion and renewed hope for Delta Central and the Urhobo Nation.
