ABUJA/Nigeria: Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, has urged the Urhobo Nation, Deltans and Nigerians to use the 2025 Christmas celebration as a season of deep reflection, reconciliation and renewed commitment to unity and collective progress.
In a Christmas message to his constituents and the Urhobo people, Senator Dafinone said the yuletide should go beyond celebration, stressing that it is a period to reflect with gratitude on the blessings of God, the gains recorded in 2025, as well as the challenges encountered during the year.
He called on the people to reflect on their collective journey as Urhobo, as Deltans and as Nigerians, noting that appreciation of progress made and lessons learnt from difficulties faced is essential for building a stronger and more cohesive society.
The senator emphasised that the true essence of Christmas lies in love, describing it as the undying love of God revealed through the birth of Jesus Christ for the redemption of humanity. He said this profound act of divine love should inspire people to show kindness, compassion and selflessness to one another.
Dafinone specifically urged the people of Delta Central and the entire Urhobo Nation to use the season to be their brother’s keeper by bearing one another’s burdens, showing understanding and strengthening the bonds that unite families, communities and the wider society.
According to him, Christmas should also serve as a season of reconciliation, calling on family members, friends and political associates to heal old wounds, forgive past grievances and move forward together with renewed vigour and clarity of purpose.
He noted that unity and forgiveness are critical as the people look ahead to the future, including the political journey towards 2027, adding that progress can only be sustained in an atmosphere of peace and mutual respect.
The senator wished the people of Delta Central and the Urhobo Nation a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, reaffirming his commitment to their welfare and collective aspirations.
