Exactly one year to the 2027 general election, the Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Ede Dafinone has declared that the All Progressive Congress, APC, is set to sweep the poll.
Senator Dafinone who made the declaration while inaugurating the Sapele chapter of the Okpe, Sapele and Uvwie Federal Constituency (OSU) APC group in Sapele yesterday.
In his address to the mammoth crowd of APC members in attendance, Dafinone noted that winning the election in 2027 would not e enough, but polling huge votes by way of massive turnout would be required to strengthen the political relevance of the Constituency.
“Sapele’s performance at the polls would determine the level of attention and development it attracts, stressing that strong voter turnout was critical to the area’s future”, he said.
He further urged the group to be more united and loyal in support for President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori, adding that only then can the dividends of democracy gets to the grassroots easily.
“Sustained support for President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori is necessary for the dividends of democracy to reach the grassroots”, he said.
Dafinone congratulated the newly sworn-in executives and assured them of the continued support of his office, urging the group to intensify efforts aimed at strengthening the APC’s presence at the grassroots ahead of future elections.
The event, held at the Sapele Council Secretariat, attracted a large turnout of party supporters from across the local government area. The venue and adjoining spaces were filled with APC faithful, most of whom were dressed in the party’s signature yellow and white colours.
In his address, the OSU Coordinator, Chief Solomon Ighrakpata, disclosed that the organisation was formed on April 4, 2025, with the aim of mobilising support for what he described as a performing government at both the federal and state levels.
According to him, the OSU brings together members from diverse political and ethnic backgrounds, united by their confidence in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
Also speaking at the event, a former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Barrister Kingsley Esiso, said the core objective of the OSU was to ensure the re-election of Governor Oborevwori in the 2027 governorship election.
He urged the newly inaugurated executives to immediately commence grassroots mobilisation efforts, including aggressive party registration and voter engagement across communities in Sapele.
On his part, the Deputy Chairman of the APC in Delta State, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, described the impressive turnout as a clear indication of growing confidence in the APC. He added that the party was steadily consolidating its base in preparation for the next general elections.
