Delta State Govt Takes Firm Stand Against Environmental Violations
…….. Orders immediate Arrest of Defaulters

In a bold move aimed at safeguarding the environment, the Delta State government has taken a decisive stance against environmental laws violations, with a stern directive to arrest any defaulters especially those excavating the soil for the purpose of laying fibre optic cables without the approval of the Delta State Ministry of Environment.

The decision to crack down on these environmental violators comes in the wake of escalating concerns over the flagrant disregard of the STOP-WORK-ORDER given to the companies by the Delta State Ministry of Environment.

The Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Jamani Tommy Ejiro who arrested some persons earlier today for excavating the soil for the purpose of installing fibre optic cable which has adverse impact on the environment warned that with mounting evidence of the illegal activities of these companies, the ministry have deemed it imperative to enforce stringent measures to curb their impunity and disregards for the directives of the state government.
He affirmed the government unwavering commitment to environmental protection and conservation noting that. “The protection of our environment is non-negotiable, and we cannot allow the wanton destruction of our environment and disregard for our laws to continue unchecked. Therefore, perpetrators of environmental law violations will face the full force of the law.”

He urge the law enforcement agencies to intensify surveillance and apprehend individuals or entities found to be contravening the state environmental laws.
