ABRAKA/Nigeria: A wave of excitement swept through Abraka in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State as residents turned out in large numbers to benefit from a free medical outreach facilitated by Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, who also used the opportunity to rally support for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
The outreach, held at the Ejeta Primary Health Care Centre on March 27, 2026, attracted hundreds of beneficiaries, with the university community and surrounding residents welcoming the medical team with chants and cheers, underscoring both the urgency of healthcare needs and appreciation for the intervention.
Speaking through his aides, Chief Jemu Salubi and Mr. Henry Esiri, the senator said the outreach formed part of his ongoing commitment to delivering accessible healthcare services, particularly to indigent constituents who are unable to afford medical treatment.
He emphasised the need for continued support for the administrations at both federal and state levels, noting that collaboration between President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori would accelerate development and improve the living conditions of the people.
According to his aides, the initiative, which has already been extended to four local government areas within the senatorial district, is aimed at bridging the healthcare access gap amid rising costs and inadequate medical infrastructure.
At the outreach centre, a team of medical professionals attended to patients, offering consultations, treatment for various ailments, and distribution of free drugs and reading glasses, while cases requiring advanced care were referred to higher medical facilities.
The aides noted that the programme aligns with Dafinone’s broader legislative agenda, which prioritises healthcare delivery as a critical component of human development and social welfare.
They also highlighted the senator’s contributions to the health sector, including the renovation and equipping of medical facilities, alongside interventions in education, youth empowerment, and job creation across Delta Central.
Beneficiaries who spoke at the event expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful, especially in the face of current economic challenges.
Many of them pledged continued support for the senator, expressing confidence in his leadership and optimism that more dividends of democracy would be delivered to the district.
