The Chairman of Ethiope West Local Governent Council in Delta State, Hon. Oghenedoro Owoso, has joined security operatives in a rescue mission of a kidnapped headteacher of a primary school at Jesse, named Mr. Kingsley Agisorogu.
Speaking to newsmen, the council boss said he got a distress call from the school and as the Chief Security Officer in the locality, he mobilised security personnel to the school.
Owoso said when they arrived the school, the kidnappers were already taking way the victim in his car and that there was exchange of sporadic shooting of guns from the escaping kidnappers and the security operatives.
He noted that it was a serious gun battle which made the kidnappers to run into the bush with the council chairman and the rescue team in a hot pursuit to rescue the victim.
” We had to go into the bush in search of the kidnappers to ensure the victim was rescued.
” At some point, we found the victim’s car. when the kidnappers knew we were closed they abandoned the vehicle.
” We continued with the search until we found the victim tied in an uncompleted building, abandoned by the kidnappers, after taking his phone and ATM cards.
” We were also informed that all the phones of the teachers in the school were also taken from them by the kidnappers before we arrived the scene,” Owoso stated.
The council chairman advised all residents to be security cautious and always report or alert security personnel whenever they noticed strange movements and happenings around them.
Owoso who said he had discussed withr the Commissioner of Police in the state for more security personnel to be posted to the area, noted that the rate of kidnapping in the locality in recent time had become worrisome and embarrassing.
