Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, on Monday welcomed Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to the groundbreaking ceremony of the Otovwodo Flyover, describing the project as a major milestone in the state’s infrastructure renewal drive.

Dafinone, who spoke at the event held in Ughelli, said the flyover project symbolised more than the erection of concrete and steel, noting that it reflected the Oborevwori administration’s commitment to modernising urban centres and improving the quality of life of residents.

“This project is not just about construction; it is about shared progress and a clear vision for a modern Delta State,” the senator said.

“I commend Governor Oborevwori for the massive infrastructure facelift currently sweeping across the state, which cuts across party lines and speaks directly to the needs of the people.”

He noted that the Otovwodo junction had for years been notorious for traffic congestion, adding that the completion of the flyover would significantly ease vehicular movement, reduce travel time and enhance commercial activities in Ughelli and neighbouring communities.
According to him, the project will strengthen the logistics framework of Delta Central and further position Ughelli as a strategic hub for trade and commerce.

“The economic impact of this flyover cannot be overstated. By improving access and mobility, we are opening up Delta Central to new investments and greater business opportunities,” Dafinone stated.

The lawmaker also described the project as evidence that the governor was fulfilling his campaign promises through the implementation of the “MORE Agenda,” which he said was already delivering tangible development across the state.

“It is heartening to see an administration prioritising projects that directly affect the daily lives of the people. This is how the dividends of democracy should be delivered—through improved accessibility, safety and economic growth,” he added.

Dafinone called on residents of Delta Central and the wider state to continue to support the Oborevwori administration, stressing that peace and cooperation were essential for the timely completion of development projects.

“Sustainable growth can only thrive in an atmosphere of unity. Our collective support is the fuel that will drive these projects to completion and turn the vision of a more prosperous Delta into reality,” he said.

The senator also urged Deltans to remain supportive of the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, saying ongoing efforts at the federal and state levels were aimed at stabilising the economy and rebuilding critical infrastructure for national development.

The Otovwodo Flyover is one of several key infrastructure projects being executed by the Delta State Government as part of its urban renewal and economic expansion strategy.
