The executive chairman of Ethiope west local government council, Rt Hon. Nelson Oghenedoro Owoso has today expressed sadness over hostilities and continous clashes between Okuno,Ekroda,Okuagbaye,Okuodenera,Edeje and Irhodo in Idjerhe Kingdom.

In a statement by his Personal Assistant, Comr. profit Uruetse Omene, Owoso condemned the killings and vicious destruction of properties worth millions of naira during the hositilities and warned that government would deal decisively with perpetrators of the violence.

Recall that lives have been lost, scores of injuries, properties destroyed during a mayhem of saturday night to sunday in the above mentioned communities in Jesse.

Also, hundreds of people fled the communities during the havoc.

The executive chairman of the local government said it was regrettable that families were displaced and businesses destroyed.

He ascertained that, the hostilities were coming in spite of the peace initiative by the leadership of the kingdom to quell the crisis and to give peace a chance.

“the attention of the Government has been brought to the continious hostilities between Okueghaye,Okuno,Ekroda, OKuodenera, Edeje and Irhodo communities in Idjerhe Kingdom Ethiop.

“the Government is honestly worried by the intensity of the continuous attacks on both communities which have caused in vicious loss of lives and property,”

“I have therefore directed the vigilante group in the aforementioned communities to submit their arms and ammunition in their possession to the divisioner police officer in Jesse,” he said.

“we have imposed a curfew with the directives of the state government and have directed security agencies to promptly investigate the circumstances leading to the continuous crisis and ensure that the culprits were prosecuted,”
