Mr Sesan Lawrence a Principal at Deluxe Crown College located at no.17 Abiodun Wright Avenue Ikate Surulere has won the the PDP ticket to represent his party as a councilorship aspirant in Ramoni Ward Ikate Surulere for the forth coming local government elections.
Mr Lawrence’s case is a peculiar one, because it is the community that paid for his form and actually asked him to contest for the position. It is the people of the ward that are donating to his campaign, and for the first time it is not about party affiliation both pdp and apc members are giving him their full support. The people wanted the right to choose their own candidate so they picked one candidate in apc and another in pdp. While the implosion in apc affected the peoples candidate in apc, the people in ramoni ward also staged a protest at pdp secretariat when they heard that the people’s choice would also lose out dew to some greedy politicians. Apc members joined their neighbors to protest at the pdp secretariat. When the party hierarchy saw what was going on, they gave the ticket to the peoples choice The Principal Mr Sesan Lawrence.
As a young teacher, Sesan helped a lot of his students with extra lessons for junior waec, common entrance, jamb, waec and other exams.A lot of youths that are graduates or still in school today appreciated all he did in shaping their lives. In the ward parents would report their children to him if they misbehave and he would always do the needful to bring them back on track. During the pandemic lockdown Mr Lawrence and some of his friends shared cooked and raw food because at that time the suffering within the ward was too much.
The people of Ramoni ward are very angry because once upon a time their community was an area within the heart of surulere that people prayed to live and raise their children but years of neglect has turned the place to ijora badia. The house of rep member is pdp, the assembly member won under pdp and decamped to apc. The area turned into a battle ground between the former council chairman Kayode Oseni and his vice Hakeem Bamgbola who later became the council chairman. When Hakeem Bamgbola became council chairmen he neglected the area because he said the area is loyal to his former boss Kayode Oseni. For his 6 year tenure he did nothing in that area, so when he contested for house of rep in 2015 the ward paid him back and that was where he lost his election. What Mr Lawrence has done for their children is what their parents want him to do for their community.
