Since 1999 return to democracy, the people of Delta State subscribed to the idea to rotate the seat of the governor of the State equitably around its three geopolitical/senatorial districts.

This practice has ensured that all the senatorial districts in the State taste power and are treated equally and uniquely by this people-driven humanistic ideology that provide the same level of opportunity and assistance to the three senatorial districts.

From Chief James Onanefe Ibori to Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, and then to Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, all three senatorial districts – Delta Central, South and North became governors to compensate and give a sense of belonging to every region in the State.

This is what political equity is. Issues of equity are not political, they’re humanistic. Peaceful coexistence is the idea concerned with or seeking to promote human welfare. It is a shade of equality.

Equality deals with rights, status and opportunity. But equity refers to the provision of varying levels of support—based on specific needs—to achieve greater fairness of treatment and outcomes.

Delta State is the most politically stable States in Nigeria because of it’s political culture of equity. This cycle is commendable and must be upheld. Why?

A progressive society is the one where everyone have agreed principles that work together for their mutual benefit. If this is the ideology that makes Delta State stable politically for the past twenty three years, then it should be sustained and narrowed down as the ligament of its local/micro political indulgences.

Now that the seat of the governor has gone round the three senatorial districts in its full cycle and it is about to commence a new one, it is only logical that since it is the turn of the Urhobos again to produce the next governor for the State that the governorship seat move to the ‘Okpes’ where no past governors of Urhobo extraction hails from.

The political principle or right that makes it the indisputable right or turn of the Urhobos to produce the next governor for the State is a conscientious example of a political equity, equality or a founding principle on which the firm unity of Delta lies.

This cherished principles must not be scuttled on the whims and caprices of one man’s APC selfish agenda.

Delta Central Federal Constituencies are:

1. Okpe, Sapele, Uvwie
2. Ughelli South, Ughelli North, Udu (Chief Felix Ibru, 1991)
3. Ethiope East, Ethiope West (Chief James Ibori, 1999-2007)

Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori is the ‘cap’ fits it all in this situation and at this time. He is not just an Urhobo man from Okpe, he is a grassroot politician and a bridge between the poor, bourgeois and elite classes. He understands all three classes because has been all all three.

This is the reason his political agenda for the State is capped the M.O.R.E. agenda. It’s an all-inclusive outline of areas of importance for his government when elected to serve as governor.

M.O.R.E means:

1. Meaningful Development
2. Opportunities for ALL
3. Realistic Reforms and
4. Enhanced Peace and Security

Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori is a grassroot man with an uncommon in-depth understanding of the yearnings of the masses. His government will be a collective action from the local level to effect change at the local and State levels.

The benefit of having a man such as him as governor is that his agenda already shows that his political processes as governor will shift the authority of decision-making practically to the grassroot or social levels of government.

This will be the first time the people will be having someone who speaks the language of the masses as governor because the most part of his lifetime was on the street, where he felt what the people are facing everyday until the hands of Providence raised him to be able to aspire to the highest seat of the State to go represent the people.

Vote wisely, vote Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, vote PDP.
