Sundays are usually characterized with prayers for showers of blessings, from God by Christians, but for the Iruafemi family, their Sunday was characterized by a heavy rain of bullets.
The family was attacked on the NPA expressway by Prodeco estate on their way from church. But for the stiff resistance of the gallant police officers attached to them, the entire family would have been wiped off. Unfortunately,one of the officers lost his life while another one is said to be responding to treatment from gunshot wounds.
The Familys’ ordeal reportedly started in march 2023 when Mrs Nina Iruafemi was kidnapped along with two other relatives. After gaining freedom from the kidnappers den, Mrs Iruafemi was alleged to have informed the police that a relative of her husband named Ikhide A.k.A Hero was part of the mastermind of their kidnapp as she heard his voice giving instructions to her captors both on phone and directly when they were still blindfolded.
The police had reportedly acted on her information and swooped on Hero and his gang in Edo state. There was a fierce gun battle, and two of the hoodlums were killed. While Hero escaped, though fatally wounded. He was said to have made his mentees swear to avenge him before giving up the ghost.
Ever since, the Iruafemi family, have not known peace. It has been attack after attack.
The police public relations officer Ekpan confirmed the incident but said investigation was ongoing on the matter.
