OWOSO DECRIES TOO MANY CHECKPOINTS OF THE JOINT TASK FORCE ON OIL THEFTS ON FEDERAL HIGHWAY, SAYS OPERATORS ENDANGER LIVES OF TRAVELLERS
THE PRAGMATIC CHAIRMAN OF ETHIOPE WEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL, HON NELSON OGHENEDORO OWOSO HAS EXPRESSED WORRIES OVER THE MULTIPLE CHECKPOINTS OF THE JOINT TASKFORCE ON OIL THEFT BETWEEN THE JESSE AND OGHARA AXIS OF THE WARRI/BENIN EXPRESS WAYS.
OWOSO WHO RAN INTO ONE OF THE CHECKPOINTS YESTERDAY WHILE INSPECTING THE POINT WHERE GAS PIPELINE EXPLODED CLOSE TO THE EXPRESS WAY IN THE MOSOGAR AXIS, THOUGH NO LIVES AND PROPERTY LOST, NOTICED THAT ABOUT FOUR TRUCKS WERE PARKED ON THE CENTER OF THE HIGHWAY CAUSING USERS OF THE ROAD TO MAKE UNNECESSARY AND DANGEROUS DIVERSION.
ASKED WHY THOSE TRUCKS WERE ABANDONED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, MEMBERS OF THE TASKFORCE IN-CHARGE OF THE SAID CHECKPOINT, EXPLAINED THAT THEY ALL BROKE DOWN.
WHILE THE CHAIRMAN ORDERED THE IMMEDIATE REMOVAL OF THOSE TRUCKS AND ENSURE FREE FLOW OF MOVEMENT, HE ALSO APPEALED TO THE DELTA STATE MINISTRY OF OIL AND GAS TO LOOK INTO MATTER ESPECIALLY TO MINIMIZE THEIR CHECKPOINTS ON THE HIGHWAYS.
