The Honourable Member Representing Okpe, Sapele and Uvwie Federal Constituency, Hon Barr Benedict Etanabene has condemned the incident that took place on Monday 23rd of March 2026 at a meeting by Members of the APC under the Pressure Group “Agege Like minds” in honor of the Former Deputy Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege in Sapele.
Recall that RERO TV did report of an invasion by thugs at the meeting held at the home of Mr Lucky Demide, inciting a brawl that left one of the attendees seriously wounded. Demide who spoke to our correspondent at the scene lamented the ordeal and stressed that they were all APC members, expressing fear on what could have happened if it were to be another party holding a meeting.
Hon Etanabene a member of Labour Party taking to his Facebook page has responded to the interview by Lucky Demide, condemning the act, positing that it is wrong for democracy as such actions must not be encouraged.
“My dear luckiest! I have known you for a very long time. Your brand of politics is that of peace. Please continue to follow that path.
” As members of the same party, all of you should come together for the interest of your party. Though, I’m very concern in your observation that, what would have happened, if the gathering were to be for another party? This is very instructive. As a member of Labour Party, i will continue to play the role of opposition in peace, and for the advancement of democracy. There must always be an alternative view in governance. It helps in the chioces to be made. Once again, stay calm. Not out of laziness, but for peace in our land. Like you know, i was born in Urban Area, and grew up there. Presently staying in Ekpan. Violence is not strange to me. However, peace is the hallmark of a Christian and it helps in the development of the land. My dear brother, continue to follow peace, there’s no alternative to it”.
