My dear people of Delta State, I want to remind you that we believe that Delta State can be better. Our campaign was guided by the unwavering commitment to Build a New Delta. That commitment rallied thousands of you to our campaigns. And all across our villages, towns and cities, you voted to Build a New Delta State.

In the election of March 18, you voted for me to be your Governor. The announced results of the election, no doubt, do not reflect the expressed will of the people.

The election was characterized by massive alteration of figures, illegal thumb-printing, stuffing of ballot boxes, buying of votes and intimidation of voters which led to criminal and large-scale rigging of the vote to impose the PDP candidate, Sheriff Oborevwori on the people of Delta State.

I would have let this pass but my conscience will not let me. I constantly remember the support you gave me through the campaigns, the way you voted for me enmasse and the promise I made to protect your votes. I will not let the mandate you gave to me to be stolen in broad daylight. It will be a let-down and squander of the collective will of the people. It is based on this premise that I went to the Tribunal to challenge the outcome of the Delta State Governorship election.

This massive fraud should and will not stand. Sheriff Oborevwori knows that the Delta people rejected him at the poll and I am determined to prove that at the tribunal. I am determined, more than ever before to ensure that only lawful votes are counted and the true winner, which I believe I am, is pronounced.

I wish to use this opportunity to thank all party members, our supporters, and the good people of Delta State for their loyalty, doggedness, steadfastness and commitment to change in the State. That the vote was criminally robbed by PDP does not in any way diminish the heroic struggle and determination to free Delta State from oppression, exclusion and domination by a few.

We call on all our supporters to remain calm, law abiding and go about their normal lawful businesses. They should rest assured that we shall do everything legally possible to reclaim the stolen mandate. Even though the wheels of justice grinds slowly, delay is no denial.

Thank you and God bless you.
