Women in Rotary, a group of female Rotarians in District 9141, in conjunction with Women in Rotary, are partnering with the Medical Women Association, a professional body of female doctors will hold a breast cancer awareness program tomorrow in Delta, Edo, Rivers and Bayelsa states.
The program is part of World Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is observed every October.
PAG Judith Ojevwe Nwachukwu, Chair, Women in Rotary, District 9141, speaking to our correspondent in Sapele, disclosed that the theme of the program is “No One Should Face Breast Cancer Alone”.
According to her, the program will teach women how to perform breast self-examination and observe any changes in their breasts that may indicate signs of cancer. The program will also offer free screening for breast cancer to the participants.
The program will be held simultaneously across the four states, except for Bayelsa, which already held its program last week.
She disclosed further that the program is open to all women who are interested in learning more about breast cancer prevention and detection.
According to the program lineup, Sensitization on Breast Cancer will begin at Sapele market, while Breast Cancer screening will be held at Ghana Health Centre, Ugberikoko, Sapele, tomorrow, Monday, 30th October 2023 by 9 am.
The program is aimed at raising awareness and educating women about the importance of early diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, which is one of the leading causes of death among women worldwide.
