As primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) get closer, the influential Delta Central Elders and Leaders Consultative Council (DCELCC) has unanimously endorsed Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, OON, as the sole candidate for the Delta Central Senatorial seat.
The group cited Emerhor’s sacrifice and contributions to the growth of APC since the formation of the party for their decision.o
They also noted that Emerhor’s reach and contact at the federal level make him the most qualified to occupy the seat as well as to collaborate with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to attract more federal presence to Delta Central.
Delta Central Elders and Leaders Consultative Council (DCELCC) made the declaration on Wednesday during a meeting held at the residence of its chairman, Chief Sylvester Kowho, at Effurun GRA in Uvwie, Delta State.
Speaking at the endorsement meeting, Chairman of the Council, Chief Sylvester Kowho, said it was the unanimous decision of members to endorse Olorogun O’tega Emerhor as its sole candidate ahead of the party’s primaries.
Kowho declared that group at its earlier meeting had X-rayed the credentials of all the aspirants before settling for Emerhor whom he described as patriotic and loyal party leaders who had contributed immensely to the growth of APC.
Raising the motion for endorsement, the Council Spokesman, Chief Thomas Akpodiete said, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor was the founding father of APC in Delta State and was the sole financier of the party despite not being in government.
The motion was later seconded by Chief (Hon.) Silver Savbede and the endorsement was put to a voice vote by the Chairman of the Council, Kowho and was unanimously supported.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of APC Delta Central Elders and Leaders Consultative Council, Chief Sylvester Kowho, urged members to go back to their local governments, wards and units to mobilise support for Olorogun O’tega Emerhor.
He reminded members that the forthcoming primaries would be by either consensus or direct primary.
The meeting had in attendance top APC elders and leaders drawn from the eight local government areas of Delta Central, including Sir (Prince) Benson Mebitaghan, Chief Thomas Akpodiete, Chief Silver Savbede, Col. B. Abeke (Rtd), Okakuro (Capt) Clifford Ikpikpini, Olorogun John Onojeharho.
Others include, Dcn John Yinka Ayeni, Hon. Dennis Okoroghen, Pupu Isaac, Mrs. Sunny Oborerhiri, Joseph Ejeta, Moses Osayeude, Rev. Akpotu Andrew, iboyitie Izon, Hluya Darlington, Godwin Akowe, Mrs. Anthonia Akpodiete, Ighomuye Lucky, Esemedefa Godwin, Anthony Akpotor.
