Ughelli — House of Representatives Aspirant for Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr. Olotu Akpodiete JP, on Wednesday, May 7, 2026, formally declared his intention to contest the U3 seat in the 2027 general elections.
The declaration was made at a meeting of U3 leaders and stakeholders held at the country home of Chief Jabin Ighomena in Ekuigbo, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Akpodiete highlighted his contributions to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, since the wave of defections hit the party. He said he had remained with those who chose not to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and had supported them through empowerment initiatives within his capacity.
Outlining his manifesto, the aspirant appealed to U3 leaders and stakeholders to give him the mandate to represent the constituency at the National Assembly. He pledged to bring the dividends of democracy closer to the grassroots through inclusive and people-centered representation.
“My administration will be inclusive,” he assured. “Elders, leaders, women, and youths across the three LGAs will have a voice and a stake in the decision-making process. U3 deserves robust representation that delivers real impact.”
Dr. Akpodiete urged party faithful to prioritize unity and focus on delivering purposeful leadership that addresses the needs of the people.
