Sapele Local Government Council Chairman, Chief Bright Abeke, has pledged to mobilise massive votes for Senator Ede Dafinone in the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that the senator’s performance and growing acceptance among constituents would translate into an overwhelming victory.
Abeke said Sapele would deliver one of the highest votes for Dafinone’s re-election, stressing that returning the senator to the National Assembly for a second term would strengthen the Urhobo nation’s representation and attract greater development to Delta Central Senatorial District.
The council chairman made the pledge on Sunday during a reconciliation meeting between Senator Dafinone and former executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the eleven wards of Sapele Local Government Area. The meeting was held at the senator’s residence in Sapele, Delta State.
Speaking at the meeting, Senator Dafinone called for unity, reconciliation and sustained grassroots mobilisation within the APC, describing cooperation among party members as essential to securing victory in the 2027 general elections.
The senator urged former executives to remain actively involved in party activities and encouraged members experiencing challenges to reach out to his coordinators across the eleven wards for necessary intervention.
“If you encounter any issues, please contact my coordinators in each ward. We are one party, and it would be a mistake to lose the election here in Sapele. Let’s ensure a strong voter turnout; we have the people’s support, and we will succeed,” Dafinone stated.
Highlighting his legislative performance and constituency interventions, Dafinone disclosed that he had facilitated projects in 83 of the 85 wards across Delta Central Senatorial District, reaffirming his commitment to delivering democratic dividends to his constituents.
“I have initiated projects in 83 out of 85 wards. I am dedicated to my role as a senator, and we will win all APC seats. Other parties cannot compete; they lack the necessary structure,” he maintained.
The senator further expressed confidence that the APC’s grassroots network and sustained engagement with party stakeholders would give the party a decisive advantage in the forthcoming elections.
In his remarks, Abeke said Dafinone’s re-election was important to securing a ranking senator for the Urhobo nation, noting that a second term would strengthen his legislative influence and enhance his capacity to attract federal projects to Delta Central.
“Dafinone is well-accepted here, and we will ensure his victory. Everyone should reach out to their neighbours and families to support all our candidates. We cannot fight against our own; we must unite and work together to achieve victory,” Abeke declared.
The council chairman stressed that he considered it his responsibility to mobilise party members and voters across Sapele to ensure a resounding victory for Dafinone and other APC candidates.
He urged former and serving ward executives to put aside their differences, close ranks and work collectively towards strengthening the party’s grassroots structures, warning that internal divisions could undermine its electoral prospects.
Also speaking, Delta State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Moses Ogodo, commended the reconciliation efforts within the APC and called on former and serving executives to work together to deliver overwhelming victories for the party’s candidates.
“We must win, and we must do so with a significant margin,” Ogodo declared, stressing that unity and effective mobilisation would be critical to electoral success.
Similarly, the APC Chairman in Sapele Local Government Area, Mr. Francis Okpigben, assured members of his readiness to address their concerns and resolve grievances capable of creating divisions within the party.
The reconciliation meeting provided representatives from the eleven wards an opportunity to raise concerns, identify challenges and propose strategies for strengthening the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Party leaders responded to the issues raised, emphasising the need for inclusiveness, cooperation and renewed commitment to the party’s electoral objectives.
Other prominent party leaders at the meeting included Chief Barr. Adelabu Bodjor, Chief of Staff to Senator Dafinone; Hon. Hero Asagba, APC Sapele Local Government Youth Leader; and several other stakeholders from across the local government area.
