Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ede Dafinone, has urged leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Uvwie Local Government Area to close ranks, strengthen the party’s grassroots structure and intensify mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dafinone made the call during a consultation meeting with APC leaders, candidates and stakeholders at the Festus Keyamo Hall in Effurun, where he stressed the need for sustained engagement with voters and greater cooperation among party members.
The senator also called for the reconciliation of members who may have become aggrieved or withdrawn from party activities following the APC primary elections.
According to him, achieving victory in 2027 would require a united party and deliberate efforts to bring all members back into the fold.
He urged party faithful to mobilise support for all APC candidates, from President Bola Tinubu to candidates seeking election into the National Assembly and the Delta State House of Assembly.
Speaking at the meeting, the Uvwie APC Chairman, Comrade Dickson Sylvester Oghenevwede, congratulated Dafinone on emerging as the party’s senatorial candidate, describing his candidacy as a collective project of the APC and the people of Delta State.
Oghenevwede said the 2027 election should not be regarded as Dafinone’s personal battle, but as a contest that would test the strength, unity and organisational capacity of the APC and its leadership across the state.
He assured the gathering that the Uvwie chapter remained committed to delivering votes for all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, Chief Solomon Ighrakpata, JP, said APC stakeholders in Uvwie had intensified mobilisation and community engagement across the local government.
Ighrakpata said the party was reaching out to residents from diverse backgrounds, including Arewa, Igbo, Hausa and other non-indigenous communities, as part of efforts to build broad-based support ahead of the elections.
He said the objective was to ensure that eligible voters across Uvwie were effectively mobilised and encouraged to support the APC.
The APC candidate for Okpe, Sapele and Uvwie Federal Constituency, Hon. Chief Ramson Onoyake, JP, also urged party members and supporters to work collectively for the victory of Dafinone, himself and other APC candidates.
Onoyake called on eligible voters to support the party across the ballot, from the presidential election to the National Assembly and state legislature.
Similarly, the APC candidate for Uvwie State Constituency, Hon. Barr. Edafe Emakpor, urged party leaders and stakeholders to step up grassroots mobilisation, noting that victory at the polls would depend largely on the collective efforts of party members and supporters.
In his remarks, the Delta Central APC Chairman, Chief P.D.O. Akpeki, identified unity, cooperation and effective grassroots engagement as key to the party’s success in 2027.
Akpeki urged the various candidates and party leaders to maintain close contact with APC members and supporters across the district.
He said the party’s goal was to secure victory for all its candidates in the 2027 elections, expressing optimism that Delta State could rank among the states with the strongest support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The consultation meeting, which attracted APC leaders, candidates and stakeholders from Uvwie, is part of Dafinone’s ongoing efforts to strengthen party unity, consolidate grassroots structures and expand the APC’s mobilisation network across Delta Central ahead of the 2027 general elections.
