Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has congratulated Vice President Kashim Shettima on his 60th birthday, praising his decades of public service and role in advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

In a statement released to mark the milestone celebration, Dafinone described Shettima’s caree from banking to the vice presidency as a life “marked by distinguished public service, leadership and an enduring commitment to the unity and progress of our nation.”

He specifically commended Shettima’s tenure as Governor of Borno State, noting the courage and resilience shown while steering the state through severe security and socio-economic challenges.

Dafinone also expressed confidence that Shettima’s experience in governance, public administration and economic affairs would continue to strengthen Nigeria’s economy, deepen national unity and promote sustainable development.

He concluded with prayers for the Vice President’s good health, wisdom and continued service, asking God to grant him strength and sound judgment in discharging his duties.

The felicitation comes as Vice President Shettima turns 60 on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, after publicly requesting a lowkey observance with no advertorials, public parties or paid media greetings but instead, he urged well-wishers to channel goodwill into prayers for Nigeria and the success of the Tinubu administration’s reforms, security efforts and national unity.

Despite the appeal for restraint, several leaders including President Tinubu, the First Lady, and governors have sent birthday messages commending Shettima’s patriotism and service.
