Senator Dafinone made the remarks on Friday during a courtesy visit to the Forum of Presidents-General of the 24 Urhobo Kingdoms at Uvwie Town Hall, where the Forum unanimously endorsed President Tinubu, Delta State Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, and Senator Dafinone for re-election in the 2027 general elections.

The Delta Central lawmaker stated that although President Tinubu had the option of making politically convenient decisions to maintain public approval, he instead chose to embark on difficult but necessary reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth and long-term economic stability.

According to him, the President’s background in governance, finance, accounting, and politics adequately prepared him for leadership, especially at a time Nigeria required bold economic decisions.

Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly, Ede Dafinone, has applauded the economic reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing him as one of the most prepared leaders Nigeria has ever produced.

Dafinone noted that key reforms such as the removal of fuel subsidy, exchange rate reforms, and electricity subsidy reforms were painful but necessary steps intended to stabilize the economy and create long-term national benefits.

He observed that previous administrations avoided many of the reforms due to fears of political backlash and unpopularity, stressing that true leadership often demands difficult decisions in the overall interest of the nation.

The senator acknowledged that the policies had created temporary hardship for Nigerians but maintained that there were already visible signs of recovery in the economy.

According to him, exchange rates had shown greater stability, investments in agriculture were increasing, foreign direct investments were improving, while food prices were gradually easing compared to the peaks experienced in late 2023 and early 2024.

Dafinone also noted that global economic disruptions caused by international conflicts slowed Nigeria’s expected recovery trajectory, but insisted that the country remained on a positive path toward economic recovery and stability.

Speaking further, the lawmaker commended Governor Oborevwori for what he described as visible projects and practical governance across Delta State.

He said that barely three years into office, the governor had already established a legacy that would continue to shape political discourse in the state for years to come.

Dafinone stated that the Oborevwori administration had demonstrated commitment to infrastructure, development, and service delivery, adding that he was proud to belong to the same political family working for the progress of Delta State and its people.
