Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has congratulated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the government and people of Delta State, as well as the Urhobo people, on the 35th anniversary of the creation of the state.
Dafinone, in a goodwill message marking the anniversary, described the milestone as an opportunity to reflect with gratitude on Delta State’s journey while renewing the commitment of all stakeholders to peace, unity and sustainable development.
He urged Deltans to continue to embrace one another with love, mutual respect and understanding, irrespective of ethnic, cultural or political differences.
According to him, the diversity of Delta State should be harnessed as a source of strength rather than division, stressing that recognising and respecting the contributions of the state’s various ethnic groups and communities would promote greater unity, peace and prosperity.
“Delta State is one big heart and one big family. Providence did not make a mistake by bringing us together as a people,” Dafinone said.
He called on Deltans to work together, support one another and promote healthy competition in ideas, enterprise and development, while putting the collective interest of the state above narrow or sectional considerations.
The senator also commended Governor Oborevwori for his leadership and urged the people of Delta to remain united in their pursuit of a greater state.
Dafinone wished Delta State many more years of growth, prosperity and enduring unity, expressing optimism that a shared commitment to peace, unity and progress would make the state a better place for present and future generations.
