His Excellency, Sir, I am particularly constrained to make this letter open that I am writing to you. It becomes imperative to write you this open letter because you have made certain bold statements in actions and decisions that showed leadership, social justice, fairness and equity. I am hoping this gets to your table so act on it urgently Sir.
It about the perceived marginalization of our kingdom MOSOGAR in Representation of the ETHIOPE WEST HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY CONSTITUENCY in Delta State. I resorted to writing this letter because as an observant to an article published on social media By one Prince Monday Odaka, Com. Francis MADAGHWA, Hon. S. U OMENE among others. It was analyzed how both OGHARAEFE, OGHARA-EKI, IDJERE KINGDOM have produced Honorable Members to Represent the Sub region severally. To our dismay, No indigene of Mosogar Kingdom has gotten a taste of the representation since the inception of this republic.
Sadly however, No leader within the State has paid attention to the Mosogar cry despite widespread opiniating arguments.
Your Excellency Sir, we trust you as an ever listening leader in your execution of projects and resolution of political issues. I am using this medium to appeal to your excellency, sir, that as we prepare for 2027 general elections, you urge your party, the All progressives congress (APC) and of course all leading political parties in the constituency to do well to micro-zones Ethiope West state house of Assembly constituency to MOSOGAR.
Finally, your Excellency, Mosogar trust in your fatherly approach to resolving issues like this.
Sir, kindly find below the history of ETHIOPE West House of Assembly for almost four decades since the creation of our dear State.
“PART ONE.
Historical Background and Representation Record of Ethiope West.
Ethiope West was created as a Local Government Area in Delta State, Nigeria on August 27, 1991, during the administration of General Ibrahim Babangida, when Delta State and its initial local government areas were established.
Since its creation, representation in the Delta State House of Assembly from Ethiope West has rotated mainly within the Jesse and Oghara blocs.
Representation So Far
Jesse:
HALIMS OGHENEOCHUKO AGODA – 1991.
Eng. ANTHONY AKPOMIEMIE – 2003–2007.
Chief Bar. John NANI – 2011–2015.
Hon. BLESSING ACHOJA – 2023–2027.
Oghara Bloc.
Ogharefe:
Hon. BEN ROLAND IGBAKPA – 2007–2011.
Hon. ERIATAKE IBORI-SUENU – 2015–2023.
Oghareki:
Hon. IGHOMENA – 1999–2003.
Mosogar:
NIL.
From the above record, Jesse has produced four representatives at different times. Oghara communities (Ogharefe and Oghareki) have collectively produced three representatives across multiple tenures.
Mosogar — a historic and significant kingdom within Ethiope West — has never produced a single member of the Delta State House of Assembly.
Why the 9th Member Should Come from Mosogar Kingdom
From the standpoint of Mosogar Kingdom, the call for the next representative is not a demand rooted in sentiment, but in justice, fairness, and balanced political inclusion.
1. Equity and Fair Rotation
Democracy thrives where fairness exists. When some communities repeatedly produce representatives while another major kingdom has none, imbalance is created.
Allowing Mosogar to produce the 9th member would correct a long-standing political exclusion.
2. Strengthening Unity.
Ethiope West must remain united. True unity is built on inclusion. Granting Mosogar this opportunity will reinforce the spirit of oneness among Jesse, Oghara, and Mosogar communities.
3. Recognition of Contribution.
Mosogar has contributed politically, economically, and socially to the development of Ethiope West. The kingdom has consistently supported party structures and electoral victories. Justice demands reciprocal recognition.
4. Preventing Political Marginalization.
Continuous exclusion can discourage grassroots participation. Fair power sharing ensures that every community feels a sense of belonging in governance.
This appeal is not against Jesse, Ogharefe, or Oghareki.
Those communities have served and contributed meaningfully.
Rather, this is a sincere call to political leaders, stakeholders, and the people of Ethiope West to demonstrate maturity and fairness.
The time has come to balance the equation.
The time has come to uphold equity.
The 9th member of the Delta State House of Assembly from Ethiope West should come from Mosogar Kingdom.
Justice for Mosogar is justice for Ethiope West.
Francis Akpeyere Madagwa
Write from Mosogar kingdom.”
Trusting in your cooperation in this matter as always.
Yours sincerely.
MR. SUNDAY OKPETABU
