The Omamigho of Great Okpe Kingdom, Okakuro Dr Anthony Aghogho Owumi JP, has felicitated former Minister of Information and renowned political scientist, Professor Sam Oyovbaire, on his 85th birthday, Hailing him as an accomplished scholar, elder statesman and patriot whose contributions to nation-building have remained enduring.
Okakuro Owumi in a signed communique forwarded to Rero TV, stressed that Prof Oyovbaire’s remarkable career in academia, public service and governance had earned him national respect and made him one of Delta State’s most distinguished sons and in extension Okpe Kingdom.
He described the octogenarian as a symbol of peace, and an Ambassador of good governance, noting that his leadership as Chairman of the Delta State Advisory and Peace Building Council has continued to foster unity and stability in Delta State.
Chief Owumi also said that the contributions of Prof Oyovbaire in Okpe Kingdom cannot be downplayed, stating that he has displayed great leadership in Okpe Kingdom and is one of the most prominent names that has championed the Okpe course for decades.
Owumi also went on to recall Oyovbaire’s tenure as Minister of Information under the administration of former military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, where he played a significant role in shaping government communication and public policy.
The Okpe Chief also noted that the professor’s vast experience and intellectual depth of Oyovbaire had remained invaluable till this day attributed him to a fine wine that gets better with age.
Owumi concluded by praying fervently for the former Minister and calling on God Almighty to grant him many more years in good health and sound mind
