Former member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Evelyn Oboro, has called on the people of Delta Central Senatorial District to support the re-election of Senator Ede Dafinone in 2027, arguing that the district cannot afford to place itself in opposition to the government at the centre.

Oboro made the call on Saturday, October 3, 2026, when Dafinone, who represents Delta Central in the Senate, visited her residence as part of his ongoing consultations with political leaders and stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Receiving the senator, Oboro pledged her support for his re-election and urged her political supporters across the eight local government areas of Delta Central — Ethiope East, Ethiope West, Okpe, Sapele, Udu, Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Uvwie — to mobilise for Dafinone and other APC candidates.

According to Oboro, the political interests of Delta Central would, in her view, be better served by maintaining representation within the party controlling the Federal Government, particularly as the district seeks greater federal attention, infrastructure and development opportunities. She therefore urged the electorate to approach the 2027 elections with what she described as the larger interest of Delta Central and the Urhobo nation in mind.

Dafinone had earlier told Oboro that his visit was to formally seek her support and endorsement for his second-term bid and to strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections. He stressed the need for party leaders and supporters to work together across the senatorial district.

The senator’s visit forms part of a series of consultations with political leaders and stakeholders across Delta Central as political activities intensify ahead of 2027.

Oboro, a former federal lawmaker for Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie, has remained active in Delta Central politics. She was among political stakeholders reported at an APC mobilisation event in Uvwie in April 2026, while recent reporting also records her publicly congratulating Dafinone on his Senate committee chairmanship.
