The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ede Dafinone, has mourned the death of Chief Mike Adiotomre, describing the late elder statesman and political leader as an astute politician, bridge-builder and respected father figure.

Chief Adiotomre, who hailed from Ovu-Inland in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, died at the age of 88.

Dafinone, in a condolence statement, said the death of the octogenarian was a profound loss to his immediate family, the people of Ovu-Inland and Ethiope East, Delta Central and the entire Urhobo Nation.

He noted that the late Adiotomre had distinguished himself through his service in the old Bendel State and Delta State, particularly as Secretary of the defunct Bendel State Hospitals Management Board.

According to the senator, Adiotomre demonstrated diligence, integrity and commitment to the development and wellbeing of his people while serving in various capacities entrusted to him.

Dafinone also highlighted the late elder statesman’s contributions to politics, describing him as a man whose experience and wise counsel were valued by successive generations of political leaders.

He said Adiotomre was a strong believer in dialogue and reconciliation, adding that his ability to build bridges across political divides earned him widespread respect.

The senator further recalled that the late political leader brought his experience, wisdom and moderation to bear as a member of the Delta State Advisory and Peace Building Council.

Dafinone said Adiotomre’s contributions went beyond partisan politics, noting that his commitment to peace and peaceful coexistence made him an important voice in the political and social development of the state and the Urhobo Nation.

While commiserating with the Adiotomre family, the people of Ovu-Inland and Ethiope East Local Government Area, Dafinone said the deceased left behind a legacy of wisdom, leadership and service to his people.

He urged those mourning the late elder statesman to draw consolation from the fact that he lived a long and impactful life and made meaningful contributions to his community and society.

Dafinone prayed that Almighty God would grant the soul of Chief Mike Adiotomre eternal rest and give his family, associates and other mourners the strength to bear the loss.

He said the Urhobo Nation had lost a respected elder and statesman whose contributions to collective progress, political leadership and peaceful coexistence would remain in the memories of the people for generations to come.
