SAPELE — The Rotary Club of Sapele Urban will on Saturday, September 26, 2026, install Rtn. Anthony Aghogho Owumi (PHF) as its 12th President, as the club begins a new Rotary year with a renewed focus on humanitarian service and community development.
The installation ceremony, scheduled for 12 noon at Richards Continental Hotels & Resort, Ireto Road, Sapele, Delta State, will also feature the inauguration of the club’s Board of Directors for the 2026–2027 Rotary year.
A major highlight of the event will be the unveiling of the community service projects planned by the incoming administration. The projects are expected to reflect Rotary’s traditional emphasis on service to humanity, particularly in areas affecting education, healthcare, youth development and grassroots empowerment.
Owumi, a charter member of the Rotary Club of Sapele Urban and a Paul Harris Fellow, brings to the presidency considerable professional, community and humanitarian experience. He is a mechanical engineer and Health, Safety, Security and Environment professional who has worked with major oil and gas companies, including Shell Nigeria PLC, Chevron PLC, Anoh Gas Processing Company and Seplat Energy PLC.
He holds a Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu, and has obtained professional HSE certifications from institutions in the United Kingdom, United States, South Korea, United Arab Emirates and Nigeria. He is also a fellow of the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria and the Nigeria Institution of Safety Engineers.
At Seplat Energy PLC, where he currently works, Owumi has served in senior HSE capacities, including HSSE Manager and Field HSE Manager, and currently serves as Major Capital Projects and Engineering HSE General Manager. His professional background, particularly in safety and engineering, has also been complemented by extensive community involvement.
Beyond his corporate career, Owumi is the founder of the Owumi Anthony Foundation and the Egbegbe Owumi Anthony Okpe Culture Dance Group. He is also involved in several community and social organisations and has received awards and recognitions from bodies including the Niger Delta Student Association, Okpe Students Association, Rotary Clubs, the Red Cross, Delta State Government and Okpe Union in the United States.
He was conferred with the chieftaincy title of Omamigho of Great Okpe Kingdom by the Orodje of Great Okpe Kingdom. He is also a Life Patron of the Red Cross of Nigeria, Delta State Chapter, and a patron or member of several organisations, including the Sapele Athletic Club, Parliament Club, Pacesetter Social Nigeria, Dominion Fathers and Safi Boyz Club.
Within the Rotary movement, his elevation to the presidency marks another stage in his involvement with the organisation. As he assumes office as the 12th president of the Rotary Club of Sapele Urban, attention will be focused on the community projects and service initiatives his administration will introduce during the 2026–2027 Rotary year.
Chairman of the Installation Committee, Rtn. Richard Okologo (PHF), described the occasion as an important moment in the club’s history and expressed confidence in Owumi’s capacity to lead the club’s service activities. The committee secretary, Rtn. Adanma A. Eguwebeere, also called for the support and participation of Rotarians, stakeholders and well-wishers.
Owumi, who is happily married with children and a member of the Winners Chapel family, is also a member of the Okpe Kingdom Delta State Traditional Council (Udogun Okpe) and patron of the Chores and Choirs Group of Winners Chapel, Sapele.
The installation ceremony is expected to bring together Rotarians, community leaders, professionals, friends and well-wishers.
